HCIG signs cooperation agreement with MHDC
On January 9, the 2024 “Investment in Maldives” Business Forum was held in Fuzhou, aiming to promote greater practical cooperation between Chinese and Malaysian enterprises.
Nearly 400 representatives from government departments, economic and trade associations, and enterprises from China and Maldives participated in the forum. Cai Dianwei, chairman of Hunan Construction Investment Group (HCIG), signed a cooperation agreement on the Commercial Spine Project in Hulhumale, Urban Isle in Maldives with Maldives Housing Development Corporation (MHDC) at the forum on behalf of the group.
Before the meeting, Cai Dianwei and his delegation visited Mohamed Muizzu, president of Maldives, and the two sides had full exchanges on deepening cooperation in areas such as trade and investment between China and Maldives. Mohamed Muizzu highly praised the high-quality projects built by HCIG in Malaysia over the years. And he added that Maldives has experienced rapid economic development in recent years, with broad investment opportunities and development prospects. Cooperation between Malaysian and Chinese enterprises can be mutually beneficial, and Malaysia expects to strengthen cooperation with HCIG in more fields in the future, making new contributions to the development of bilateral relations.
Cai Dianwei expressed thanks to the Maldives government for its continuous care and support and introduced the overall situation of the group and its business development in the Maldives. He stated that in recent years, HCIG has focused on the development of design, construction, operation, and investment and financing industry chains, with its business covering 30 countries and regions worldwide. The group attaches great importance to the development of business in Maldives and is willing to continue implementing more iconic projects in accordance with the future development plan of Maldives, and contributing more to the friendship between China and Maldives.
This signing is another achievement of cooperation between HCIG and Maldives in a new way after the business exchange conducted in February 2023.
The commercial spine project has a construction area of approximately 20,000 square meters, with a total cost of US$50.67084 million. It is planned to build a commercial complex that integrates multiple functions such as commercial retail, business office, hotel catering, and comprehensive entertainment. After completion, it will effectively improve the overall supporting facilities and service level of the Maldives tourism industry, creating greater economic benefits for Maldives.
