Eurasian Trade and Logistics Comprehensive Zone (Chuy) starts construction
The groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of EPC project for the Eurasian Trade and Logistics Comprehensive Zone (Chuy) in Kyrgyzstan was held on the morning of October 17 local time.
More than 100 guests and representatives of various relevant units attended the ceremony, including the Chairman of the Cabinet of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to the Kyrgyz Republic, Du Dewen, the vice chairman of the Cabinet of the Kyrgyz Republic, the governor of Chuy, the vice chairman and general manager of Hunan Construction Investment Group (HCIG), Tan Ding, and the Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, Yu Zhigang.
The Chairman of the Cabinet of the Kyrgyz Republic congratulated the successful launch of the project and said that he and everyone present witnessed an important moment. The groundbreaking of the project is an important step forward for Kyrgyzstan’s economic development. The project is of great significance for expanding regional trade, promoting employment in Kyrgyzstan, and improving the export environment. The Kyrgyzstan government is willing to continue to provide support and assistance for the project, and further deepen practical cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and China.
Du Dewen said that in July of this year, the two heads of Kyrgyzstan and China held an important meeting in Astana of Kazakhstan, injecting new impetus into the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Kyrgyzstan in the new era. He hoped that both sides will make joint efforts to build Eurasian Trade and Logistics Comprehensive Zone into an important trade logistics base in the northern Kyrgyzstan, helping the high-quality development of the “Belt and Road” cooperation.
Tan Ding thanked various departments of the Kyrgyzstan government and the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan for their strong support. He said that HCIG is committed to promoting practical cooperation in relevant fields with Kyrgyzstan. The project has entered the construction phase. After completion, it will further consolidate Kyrgyzstan’s position as an international trade and transportation hub in Central Asia, and enhance the level of economic and trade development in Kyrgyzstan. The group will spare no effort to build a quality project and make the project a replicable and referenceable model of the cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, contributing to promoting Kyrgyzstan’s economic and social development and building a China-Kyrgyzstan community with a shared future.
On the morning of October 16 local time, Tan Ding led a delegation to visit the Chinese Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic and exchanged information with Ambassador Du Dewen on the project cooperation in Kyrgyzstan. During the period, he also visited Jizhong Investment Holding Co., Ltd. and Junxin Environmental Protection (Kyrgyzstan) Investment Co., Ltd., and investigated the garbage technology disposal and power generation project in Bishkek.
At the Chinese Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic, Du Dewen said that the Eurasian Trade and Logistics Comprehensive Zone (Chuy) project being implemented by HCIG is a priority project of Kyrgyzstan, with significant implications for promoting local economic reform and development. It will play an active role in creating employment opportunities and improving people’s livelihoods. HCIG is expected to manage the entire construction process of its ongoing projects in Kyrgyzstan well and increase its efforts to do business in Kyrgyzstan. The embassy will also continue to provide support and assistance for the group’s various work in Kyrgyzstan.
Tan Ding gave a detailed report on the group’s international business and project cooperation in Kyrgyzstan. He said that HCIG conducts its overseas business across more than 30 countries and regions around the world, and has rich experience in overseas project investment and construction. Kyrgyzstan is one of the first countries to support and participate in the construction of the “Belt and Road”. The group attaches great importance to the market of Kyrgyzstan. In the future, under the guidance and support of the Embassy, it will promote project implementation and business expansion in Kyrgyzstan, and make greater contributions to advancing the economic and social development of Kyrgyzstan and developing the friendship between China and Kyrgyzstan. At present, there are two key projects under construction in Kyrgyzstan, namely the Eurasian Trade and Logistics Comprehensive Zone (Chuy) project and the garbage technology disposal and power generation project in Bishkek, which need the Embassy’s continuous attention and support.
At the site of the garbage technology disposal and power generation project in Bishkek, the delegation had a discussion and exchange with the project owner, Junxin Environmental Protection (Kyrgyzstan) Investment Co., Ltd., to gain a detailed understanding of the project construction, safety management, technical quality, materials and other work.
Tan Ding said that the group will continue to increase high-quality resources and make every effort to build the first waste-to-power project brand in Kyrgyzstan. He hoped that both sides will explore the Central Asian waste-to-power market based on their respective advantages. He also emphasized the need to respond to the owner’s requirements, control safety and quality, assign tasks rationally, and reverse the construction schedule, in a bid to put the project into production in a high-quality and efficient way.
