Obigarm - Nurobod Road open to traffic
The opening ceremony of Obigarm - Nurobod Road Section project in Tajikistan was held at the starting point of the project on the morning of August 26 local time. Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda attended the ceremony and cut the ribbon for the project, announcing that the road is officially open to traffic.
Hunan Road & Bridge Construction Group Co., Ltd.(HNRB), a subsidiary of Hunan Construction Investment Group (HCIG), undertook the first contract section of the road.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon delivered a brief speech at the ceremony, highly recognizing the quality of the project and expressing gratitude to the hard work of the participating personnel.
He pointed out that the highway will play an important role in developing domestic and international trade, tourism, attracting investment, boosting regional development, and improving people's quality of life. The highway has a total length of 75 kilometers and a standard road width of 12 meters. It was implemented in three contract sections. The first contract section, Obigarm - Tagikamar Road Section, constructed by HNRB, has a total length of 30.1 kilometers and a contract period of 1,200 days.
It mainly includes 4.6 million cubic meters of earthwork, 6 bridges, 2 tunnels of 3.3 kilometers, 160,000 cubic meters of protective barriers, 30 kilometers connected to village roads, asphalt pavement, as well as ancillary works such as traffic safety, building construction, and lighting.
Since the start of the project, facing multiple challenges such as the impact of the epidemic, material supply interruption, labor shortage, and extreme low temperatures in winter, the project team has implemented precise strategies, optimized the construction design plan, strengthened multidimensional coordination with local governments and suppliers to ensure resource supply, established a phased responsibility assessment mechanism to consolidate job responsibilities, and efficiently promoted project construction.
It has become the first large-scale transportation project in Tajikistan in recent years to strictly meet the conditions for opening to traffic according to the contract period, laying a solid foundation for the group to further expand the Central Asian market.
As the core part of the China-Asia Economic Cooperation Corridor, the highway has important strategic value for Tajikistan. Its opening will directly improve the regional transportation network layout of Tajikistan, significantly enhance the traffic efficiency from Obigarm to Nurobod and surrounding areas, effectively strengthen the interconnection within Tajikistan and with neighboring countries in Central Asia, and provide convenient channels for the transportation of mineral resources, agricultural products and other resources along the highway. It will further promote the development of related industries in Tajikistan and help upgrade the social and economic quality of the region.
