Hunan-Rajshahi WASA Surface Water Treatment Plant starts construction
On the morning of April 28 local time, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Hunan-Rajshahi WASA Surface Water Treatment Plant in Bangladesh, constructed by Hunan Construction Investment Group (HCIG), was held in Rajshahi city.
Yao Wen, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, officials from the Bangladesh government, the Economic Relations Bureau of the Ministry of Finance, the Rajshahi city government and the Rajshahi Water Supply & Sewerage Authority (Rajshahi WASA), as well as local mainstream media attended the ceremony.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Yao Wen congratulated the project on its commencement and stated that China has always been the most reliable development partner of Bangladesh and a steadfast companion in its modernization process.
China has confidence and ability to build this project into another exemplary project for both countries, contributing to the local economic and social development, as well as the improvement of people’s livelihoods in Bangladesh, and continuously promoting China-Bangladesh cooperation to new heights.
An official of the local government of Bangladesh stated that this project will play a positive role in enhancing local public service capabilities and promoting economic development. They hope that HCIG will fully leverage its professional advantages to push the project forward.
An executive of SHICO gave thanks to the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh and various departments of the Bangladesh government for their strong support for the project. He said that HCIG would actively make contributions to the construction of the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor under the “the Belt and Road” Initiative.
The group will work together with the Bangladeshi side to promote the high-quality construction of the project, create a model of cooperation between China and Bangladesh in livelihood projects, and solve the problem of safe water use in the Rajshahi area as early as possible to improve the local people’s wellbeing.
